Nathi Mankayi is an Eastern Cape-born singer from Umthatha who has had a lot of struggles growing up but like any other determined person, he has become the best in what he does because he never gave up because God never gives up on a person if that person believes.

Growing up, Nathi was a well-known criminal but in 2004 he was arrested for armed robbery and was released in 2008. During his time in prison, he formed a choir which made his stay shorter but most importantly, he had time to reflect and think about his life, which ultimately made him realise that he needed to change his life and since he lived in a home that was headed by a single mother, he definitely had to change his life not only for his single parent mother but for his other 5 siblings. You will hear his story in the song “NOBA NGUMAMA"

He became a professional singer after entering a singing competition entitled “Dare to Dream" which he entered with his sister the first time (she won obviously). After winning he had the opportunity to record a song with jaziel Brothers... the song which is driving everyone insane “Nomvula". Nomvula is a single from his album “BuyeleKhaya" and it is amazing. But his Journey was not finished, he needed a recording company to sign him up and thankfully, it was through Ghetto Ruff Music that Mankayi finally got his big break.

I am proud to call myself a Nathi Mankayi fan as of today. This guy has a great voice and it has lead people into comparing him with the Afro/ Soul legend Ringo Madlingozi and I should say, they do sound alike but you can actually tell that this is Nathi's sound...well I believe, it  is the Eastern Cape seed that they both have. Eastern Cape singers are by far THE BEST AFRO/SOUL SINGERS IN SA...I am not even playing with yall right now...that sighosha thing going on makes me fall a hundred times more for their sound...mmh...Lord...
Nathi also has some religious songs in his album but with his twist on it...so if you are also a spiritual person, be sure to get yourself a copy of the album and listen to the song " Ndenzenjani" and just be a Nathi fan for life because the album is insane!...

Be sure to click on the video below and listen to Nomvula and then go on to buy Nathi's album “Buyelekhaya"...
